We have been using our Fisher and Paykel AeroTech oven for a couple of weeks. It is simply the best oven we have ever used. When we were shopping for new kitchen appliances, Fisher and Paykel was not the first brand we considered, nor was it on our initial list of favorites. But the more we looked, the more we liked about this beautiful oven.

It is as functional as it is stylish. At first, we thought the LCD screens would be too small - and we were proven wrong. The screens are easy to read, and the oven is very simple to use. It has a wealth of baking, roasting and broiling options. We have found its convection baking to be outstanding. From cookies to bread to a Thanksgiving turkey dinner, everything has come out perfectly. The temperature probe cooking was spot on, convection cooking a 15 lb. Thanksgiving turkey in only three hours. The results were fantastic.

Our oven came with two of the best Teflon cookie sheets we’ve ever seen, a glass cooking pan, a huge pizza stone and wooden paddle, along with a temperature probe. The oven has three racks and 13 positions, which we learned is important for convection baking. You can make an entire three course meal in the oven, or bake a ton of cookies all at once. The results are amazingly even.

The manual and included cookbook are wonderful. When using a convection oven, you will need to know which rack in the oven is correct for your recipe, and the included cookbook is simply outstanding. Having worked for many years as a food advertising photographer, I worked on many cookbooks. The text included with the oven is beautifully illustrated, written and organized. We have found it indispensible as we get used to working with convection and combined convection/baking/roasting/broiling. They make it very easy.

We have also found working with Fisher and Paykel to be a very good experience. Needing answers to our questions, we called the Fisher and Paykel 24-hour toll-free helpline several times, to get through our newbie questions. The staff (you will be calling Australia) could not be any more courteous, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. And fun! I have found myself calling them as much to chat with a friendly voice from Australia as anything else. I wish every company’s support staff was this good.

As noted by another reviewer, the dials on the oven are easy to turn, and you can accidentally turn on the oven. But it is apparent that you have, so I think this is a minor point.

A tip: on the beautiful Iridium finish, finger smudges can sometimes be apparent. Don’t use abrasive cleaners to clean this! Instead, Fisher and Paykel suggested going to a health food store and buying a small bottle of eucalyptus oil to clean off the smudges. They’re right! A few drops on a soft rag will clean up any finger marks, and your kitchen will smell incredible as a result.

In short: this is an outstanding oven. It’s not the cheapest, but the AeroTech’s large capacity, ease of use and accurate cooking won us over quickly. It is a great value for the money. You won’t regret owning one!
