We purchased a brand new home and decided to upgrade all the appliances to stainless steel. The wall oven option was a Thermador C271u and it looked really sleek in our new kitchen. After just three years, the oven would periodically stop heating to the temperature entered. We also noticed that a chattering noise usually indicated that the oven would not heat beyond the current temperature. I tried calling Thermador to see if they would repair the oven but they said the warranty was only good for one year. We finally hired a technician to first determine the cause and provide an approximate price to repair the oven. He stated that the issue is with the circuit board and that he just ordered the same part for another couple he had the same problem. The price of the part was a little over $500 plus the $150 or so to have it installed. In addition, the repair person also stated that the springs on the door hinges would also require replacing because it doesn’t close tight enough. We agreed because we have, on many occasions, accidentally left the internal oven light on after simply drying our hands on towels hanging from the oven door.
I just want to share our bad experience with others thinking about purchasing a Thermador product. We will never purchase another Thermador product after our experience with their wall oven.
