My husband and I purchased this Thermador oven as a second oven when we remodeled our kitchen in 2000. I had only heard good things about Thermador products and was excited to be getting on oven that I felt sure would be reliable and more accurate.

I use this oven more frequently than the oven in my stove. (I guess I find it more convenient to use an oven that is separate from the cook surface.) I like to roast at very high temperatures (400-500 degrees), but this oven cannot hold it’s temperature. If the oven is set for 400, I need to reset the temperature (ie. preheat again) every 15 minutes or so. It seems to get to the required temperature quite quickly, but cannot maintain it .

In the time we have owned this unit, we have replaced the door and the thermostat unit. There have been a number of times when the control panel on the door will flash an error message, but there is no means to decipher the code - either in the owner’s manual or on the Thermador website. When that happens, I have to shut the oven off at the circuit box and leave it off for a period of time so it will reset itself.

Needless to say, this oven has been a great disappointment, especially after spending so much. I will never but another Thermador product again.
